Air India, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and Delhi International Airport Ltd have joined forces to enhance customer experience by introducing check-in facilities at two metro stations. This strategic partnership will allow international passengers to drop off their luggage at the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium metro stations, freeing them from the hassle of carrying baggage while exploring the city.

DMRC and DIAL have developed an advanced automated system to implement this customer-centric service to ensure efficient baggage handling and loading onto aircraft. Initially available only to domestic travellers, this facility will now be extended to international passengers. According to an Air India statement, international passengers can use this service at the designated metro stations between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The metro rail operates every 10 minutes, taking approximately 19 minutes to reach Terminal 3's departure level at Delhi Airport. For domestic flights, passengers can check in between 12 hours and 2 hours before departure, while for international flights, check-in is available between 4 hours and 2 hours before departure.

“This initiative not only provides a cost-effective option for travellers coming from distant locations but also helps control congestion at the airport, leading to a better experience for all our customers. This initiative will significantly enhance the convenience of our customers,” stated Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India.

With this new service, Air India, DMRC, and DIAL aim to make travel more convenient and enjoyable for their customers, reflecting their commitment to improving the overall passenger experience.
