Bandhan Bank has announced the appointment of Ratan Kumar Kesh as its interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 10. This decision was approved by the bank's board of directors, as stated in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing dated July 6. Kesh will serve in the interim role for a period of three months.

Ratan Kumar Kesh, who currently serves as the bank's Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, brings extensive expertise in areas such as operations, technology, transaction banking, risk management, digital transformation, and organizational development.

Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, the founder and current MD and CEO of Bandhan Bank, will step down from his position on July 9. In an analyst call on July 8, Ghosh reflected on his journey, saying, “I have built this institution from scratch to its current stature. My focus has been operational, but now I aim to take on a strategic role at the holding company level, rather than at the bank's board level.”

While the bank's board had approved Ghosh's reappointment in November 2023, it is yet to receive clearance from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

In other developments, Bandhan Bank launched a suite of enhanced trade products on July 8 to bolster confidence in global transactions. "These new products reflect our commitment to innovation, customer-centricity, and our vision of being a bank for all," said Ghosh in a statement.

Bandhan Bank shares closed slightly higher at ₹204.45 on July 8, up from ₹204.30 on July 5.
