MTN Elevates Data Intelligence with Migration of EVA Platform to Microsoft Azure

MTN has successfully migrated its Enterprise Value Analytics (EVA) platform in South Africa to Microsoft Azure, marking a major step in the company’s digital transformation journey. The move aims to strengthen MTN’s capabilities in leveraging data-driven intelligence to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and ensure the ethical use of AI.

The new cloud-based EVA 3.0 platform, which handles approximately 22 billion records daily and manages over 800 analytics workflows across 1,700 data feeds, is designed to process and analyse information faster and more securely.

Built on Azure Databricks and safeguarded by Microsoft Defender, EVA 3.0 has demonstrated significant performance gains compared to its predecessor, enabling real-time insights and faster decision-making.

According to MTN Group CIO Nikos Angelopoulos, the upgraded platform provides earlier visibility into customer and network performance trends, helping teams proactively address issues, craft more personalised offers, and maintain a consistently high-quality service experience.

“Our customers expect reliability, relevance, and responsiveness in every interaction,” said Angelopoulos. “EVA 3.0 strengthens our ability to transform vast amounts of data into meaningful insights with greater speed, intelligence, and security.”

Angelopoulos added that EVA 3.0 represents the largest telco cloud deployment in the Middle East and Africa, setting a new benchmark for data modernisation in the region.

MTN also plans to extend the EVA 3.0 model beyond South Africa, using it as a framework to drive similar data transformation initiatives across its operations in other markets.
