ABB has unveiled a new Customer Experience Centre in Malaysia, reinforcing its commitment to advancing industrial innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth across key sectors.
Located at the company’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya, the newly launched 2,882.8 sq ft facility represents an investment of approximately US$450,000 (RM2.1 million). The centre is designed as a collaborative innovation hub where customers, partners, and industry stakeholders can explore, test, and accelerate the adoption of advanced electrification, automation, and digital technologies.
With nearly 450 employees supporting operations nationwide, ABB Malaysia continues to expand its role in helping industries improve operational efficiency, productivity, and sustainability through engineering expertise and digital innovation.
Speaking at the launch, Ho Siew Kim, Country Holding Officer of ABB Malaysia, highlighted the company’s focus on enabling industries to achieve higher performance standards through technology-driven transformation.
She noted that while Malaysia’s energy infrastructure has remained strong and dependable for decades, continuous innovation and smarter engineering solutions are essential to further enhance industrial competitiveness and sustainability.
The Customer Experience Centre aligns closely with Malaysia’s long-term national development strategies, including the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), and the Malaysia MADANI agenda. These initiatives aim to strengthen decarbonisation efforts, accelerate digital adoption, and improve industrial resilience.
Designed as an immersive and interactive facility, the centre caters to industries such as oil and gas, semiconductor manufacturing, data centres, and other high-growth sectors. Businesses visiting the centre can collaborate with ABB experts to co-create, validate, and deploy solutions that enhance efficiency while supporting long-term sustainability goals.
The facility offers live demonstrations and practical applications for end users, system integrators, consultants, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and channel partners.
The centre is divided into three dedicated sections:
- Electrification Zone: Showcases innovations in smart power systems, power protection technologies, distribution systems, and low-voltage solutions.
- ABB Motion Zone: Features digital powertrain technologies, IE5 Synchronous Reluctance Motors, ACS880 drives, and OctaiPipe — an AI-powered Cooling Efficiency (ACE) solution designed to optimise energy performance and sustainability.
- Automation Zone: Demonstrates advanced measurement systems, analytics, and distributed control systems integrated with digital technologies for industrial and energy applications.
The launch also reflects ABB Malaysia’s broader growth strategy following its relocation to Petaling Jaya in 2023. Through the centre, the company aims to bring both established and next-generation technologies closer to local industries, enabling faster and more confident technology adoption.
During the event, Mad Zaidi bin Mohd Karli, Secretary General of Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, emphasised the importance of innovation and advanced technologies in building a cleaner, smarter, and more energy-efficient future.
He highlighted that industries currently account for nearly half of Malaysia’s national power consumption, making technology-driven optimisation and decarbonisation increasingly critical. He also stressed the need for continued investment in the national grid, battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable energy infrastructure, and predictive digital technologies to support long-term energy resilience.
Beyond industrial innovation, ABB Malaysia is also strengthening talent development initiatives through collaborations with local universities, including Universiti Malaya under the Jürgen Dormann Foundation scholarship programme. The company continues to support students with industry expertise and technical resources to help prepare future talent for emerging industrial demands.
Anchored by ABB’s “Engineered to Outrun” brand positioning, the new Customer Experience Centre is expected to serve as a key platform for hands-on collaboration, helping Malaysian industries accelerate digital transformation and sustainability initiatives with greater confidence and efficiency.
