Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has strengthened its strategic alliance with Morrisons, one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains, through a new five-year agreement aimed at driving large-scale digital transformation and elevating customer experience across its 500 stores serving over 11 million customers weekly.
As part of this extended partnership, TCS will help modernise and integrate Morrisons’ key business operations across retail, e-commerce, and marketing. The initiative will focus on streamlining processes, enhancing efficiency, and embedding AI-driven solutions to improve speed, agility, and decision-making across the organisation.
To further enable this transformation, TCS will establish an Automation Factory and a Business Intelligence Command Centre (BICC), providing real-time insights and a 360-degree view of operations. These systems will enable proactive issue resolution, predictive analytics, and data-led business strategies to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
The technology overhaul will extend to loyalty, marketing, and online commerce platforms, with a focus on rapid development and delivery of new digital products. The transformation aims to minimise manual intervention, reduce downtime, and deliver a seamless omnichannel shopping experience. Additionally, Morrisons expects to consolidate its vendor ecosystem, achieving greater synergy and alignment across business units.
Stuart O’Hara, Director of IT Operations at Morrisons, said:
“As we fast-track our digital journey, we’re confident that TCS’s automation-first approach and innovative operating model will help us enhance service quality, accelerate time-to-market, and deliver lasting value for our customers.”
Shekar Krishnan, Head of Retail, TCS UK, added:
“Leveraging our deep retail expertise, engineering excellence, and AI-powered automation, we’re excited to partner with Morrisons in reimagining digital transformation, marketing, and customer engagement at scale.”
This renewed agreement builds upon a decade-long partnership between TCS and Morrisons, which began in 2014. Over the years, the two companies have successfully delivered several transformation programs, including supply chain modernisation to improve lead times and stock availability, and HR digitisation initiatives enhancing workforce experiences.
