Magnum 4D Bhd has introduced a new mobile app capability called PlayNow, designed to make in-store transactions faster and more convenient for customers across its nationwide outlet network.
The feature allows users to choose their numbers digitally within the app and instantly generate a QR code. Customers can then present this code at any Magnum outlet, where staff scan it to process the bet. While selections are made digitally, payments continue to be completed at the counter.
According to Executive Vice-President and Group COO Chong Fhui, the initiative reflects the company’s approach to digital transformation—using technology to simplify the purchase journey rather than shifting customers entirely to online transactions.
He noted that PlayNow prioritizes speed, convenience, and safety by removing the need for handwritten betting slips, thereby minimizing errors and cutting down wait times at outlets.
The feature also supports operational efficiency by accelerating service at counters and reducing paper usage, aligning with Magnum’s sustainability goals. Each of Magnum’s nearly 500 outlets nationwide now include an express lane where customers can present their QR codes for faster processing.
Chong emphasized that the broader objective is to create a smoother, more efficient, and customer-friendly purchasing experience across all retail touchpoints.
