Flipkart has brought on board Ramesh Gururaja, a former executive from Tokopedia, as its new Senior Vice President of Consumer Products, according to sources familiar with the development. Gururaja is set to take over responsibilities previously managed by Anand Lakshminarayanan and Bharath Ram, both of whom departed from the company earlier this year.
In his new role, Gururaja will report directly to Jeyandran Venugopal, Flipkart’s Chief Product and Technology Officer. With an engineering background, Gururaja brings extensive experience in launching mobile-first products, having previously worked with industry giants such as Tokopedia, Amazon, and Microsoft. His most recent position was at Tokopedia, where he served as Chief Product Officer and Head of Shared Consumer Platform for GoTo.
Gururaja’s appointment comes as Flipkart undergoes significant restructuring. In recent months, the company has seen several long-standing top executives depart, with their roles either being streamlined or redefined.
Last week, Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha had her responsibilities expanded to include leadership of Flipkart Fashion. Sinha, an alumna of IIT BHU and FMS Delhi, joined Flipkart in 2013 and took over as Myntra CEO in 2022. Her expanded role follows the departure of Arief Mohamad, Flipkart’s Vice President and Head of the Fashion Vertical, who quit the company earlier this year.
Additionally, Anuj Rathi, previously a top executive at fintech company Jupiter, joined Flipkart earlier this year as the head of its travel platform, Cleartrip. Rathi replaced Ayyappan Rajagopal, who stepped down as CEO in February after an 11-year stint with the Flipkart Group.
In May, Flipkart also appointed Prathyusha Agarwal, a former executive at Byju’s and Unilever, as the head of its social commerce platform, Shopsy.
